Caroline Miller founder of Rutherford Classics, is a woman of many distinctions. Oregonians know her distinguished career in public service. She served two terms as Multnomah County Commissioner, preceded by a term as an original councilor with Metro, the Portland, Oregon area regional government.

Prior to entering politics, Caroline headed the Portland Federation of Teachers and is enshrined in Oregon’s Labor Hall of Fame. She taught English at the high school and university level. Caroline Miller holds degrees from Reed College and Northern Arizona University, where she graduated with honors in English. Caroline emerged as a novelist in 2009 when she published to two novels the same year. In addition to writing, Caroline worked as a silk painter for many years. She exhibited in Portland galleries and juried exhibitions.
